Barrett-Jackson, which does not collect commissions on vehicles sold entirely for charity, helped raise a combined $6.7 million for charities during the Scottsdale, Palm Beach, Fla., and Las Vegas auctions in 2008.

GM will auction the rights to the first retail production 2010 Chevrolet Camaro coupe and the proceeds will go to the American Heart Association.
The winning bidder can choose from the V6 or V8 engine offerings, automatic or manual transmission options and even the color and he will receive VIN No. 100001.
The 540-hp Shelby GT500 is also set for sale at the auction, and proceeds will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The first, desert-conquering F-150 Raptor from Ford’s SVT group will also be sold at the event to support the foundation. Ford’s Raptor is rugged enough for challenging desert adventures yet refined enough for everyday use.
The top bidders win the rights to buy the cars when they roll off the assembly lines. Prototypes will be shown at the auction. These cars are the spotlight attractions but far from the only head-turners that will benefit charity at the Arizona event.

Barrett-Jackson will also auction another 11 cars, among which is 1967 Plymouth Barracuda built by a West Coast Customs in honor of hot-rod legend Boyd Coddington. The proceeds will go to EAA’s Young Eagles program. According to Businesswire.com, after
selling the Max HEMI for charity at Barrett-Jackson in 2006, Coddington dreamed of building an even faster muscle car to auction for children. Following Coddington’s passing in February 2008, West Coast Customs and volunteers like Marc Holmes of Rod and Gauges carried the torch and built the one-off ‘Cuda that features a 6.1-liter, 500 horsepower V8 HEMI.

Also auctioned for charity is a 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo NASCAR stock car driven by Tony Stewart to three wins in the Sprint Cup Series (to benefit the Darrell Gwynn Foundation), and a 2006 Monte Carlo that Jeff Gordon used for two wins (Hendrick Marrow Program).
